Dance Mat Typing-  Welcome to Dance Mat Typing, an introduction to touch typing for children aged 7 – 11 years.  Each of the 4 levels are divided into 3 stages. Begin at Level 1 and build up your skills gradually through to Level 4.

Compass Learning- A Web-based curriculum system that provides content aligned to the student’s MAP score.  It utilizes interactive learning games, skill building and learning resources. When used actively for about 60 to 90 minutes per week, it is an effective tool for helping improve student’s scores on MAP testing.  This is enough time for most students to complete approximately three to five activities.

www.edmodo.com- Edmodo is a free and secure learning network for teachers, students, and schools.  It provides a safe way for us to connect, share content, access homework, participate in discussions and receive class information. Edmodo is accessible online and through any mobile device with Internet capabilities – including free apps for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android devices.  Students can access their account from any mobile device or computer.

KidsAstronomy.com-  Astronomy for children, students, and kids of all ages. Part of the KidsKnowIt Network, is the absolutely free astronomy resource designed to teach children about the exciting world of outer space.
PUSD Parent’s Guide- This site provides links to various reading, writing, and math sites that help students practice skills at home.
Los Pen Library Catalog- This site allows you to search for books from the Los Pen Library.  It includes an option that allows you to search by Lexile Level.
Lexile.com- This site provides information about what lexile scores are and allows you to look up the lexile level of numerous books.
Qtopia  is an online learning platform that offers thousands of ready-to-use activities, motivating games, avatar features, online homework access with automatic grading, in-classroom review modes, and the ability for educators to use ‘as is’ or completely customize the learning experience
Study Jams is a Scholastic website designed to help elementary school students learn and review math and science information through songs and videos. To use Study Jams students search for a topic in the math or science category. Each Study Jam offers a short tutorial on that topic in the form of a video, slideshow, or song. When there is a song available Study Jams provides a karaoke format for kids to sing along if they like.

Upcoming Field Trips!
Sea Camp San Diego:
This fieldtrip will be an interactive day, where students get to participate in a fish adaptations and invertebrate lab experience. they will interact with marine animals from the Sea Camp touch tanks.
FISH ADAPTATIONS LAB
In this hands-on lab, students will study fish (including sharks, skates and rays) anatomy and behavior. Observations and discussion will occur regarding adaptations that allow fish to flourish in specific environments. Students will explore the differences between the three different classes of fish: Agnatha, Chondrichthyes and Osteichthyes.
INVERTEBRATE LAB
In this lab students will be introduced to the major phyla of local marine invertebrates. Students will explore these animals’ characteristics and adaptations through the use of a variety of live and preserved specimens.
SEINING IN MISSION BAY
Students are taught to work a long collecting net called a seine, and from the beach, attempt to catch some local, inshore marine life. Once caught, specimens are placed in buckets and instructors teach about them and their habitat. All animals are returned at the end of the session.
